Too much mana cost. Just stick with chain lightning. Use flame shield and ice armor. Frost nova is another great defensive spell (they cant attack when theyre frozen in place). Also use teleport to get out of sticky situations.i ran with invader and unlocked challenger later on, set that as my primary archetype and that got me through everything on hardcore veteran. Definitely the engineer. You can't get it in HC if you don't start with it, and it is arguably one of the best archetypes in general. If you don't like engineer, then challenger or handler.It makes levelling the new rifle and other guns i procrastinate on levelling a breeze when you kill 80-100 AI in one round. This is where it's at, levelling up shotguns has never been easier when the hoard keeps coming in close quarters. Looking on the bright side - the camping Rats are being sniffed out. Hardcore is like a normal difficulty in this game. I found it to be a great advice to start on Hardcore right away when I bought the game. Not only it was somewhat challenging, but also unlocked nightmare mode and item shop which were a lot of fun. .
